Animate a Classic Painting

I absolutely love making GIFs, so I decided that it would be appropriate to make an AnimatedGIF Assignment. I kind of wish this assignment could also fall under two categories, but I guess it’s not that big of a deal. You can find the assignment here¬†and all you have to do is turn a classic painting into an animated GIF like the one I made below.

This is so clever! I love it. I need to go an watch your tutorial. I tried to do something like this today and failed but learnt something else. I think I am missing something about masks and background when starting from still images…. anyway, this is beautiful. I will hang it in my wall when we invent Harry Potter Pictures :)

Thanks, it took quite some time to actually make! I kept messing up and having to restart, but I think its the most rewarding GIF I have ever made!

This is beautiful! I really like the assignment you made – it’s very creative. I saw you made a tutorial for this so I would add a link to that in this post so people know where to find it. Also, add the tags that are associated with your new assignment so it will show up when people are browsing the ds106 assignment bank.

Wow this is amazing! I love it. This painting is also one of my favorites. I actually have it hanging up on my wall! Dali is my favorite artist.

You choose a wonderful picture. The contrast between the moving clocks and beautiful background is almost eery in a way but beautiful at the same time.

This is really great, Jack! So great, that I’m going to ask you to make sure you put the proper tags on it so that it shows up on the assignment page in the Assignment Bank (as an example). If you go to the assignment page, you’ll see the tags you need to put in the instructions under “Do This Assignment.” For this one, they are “AnimatedGIFAssignments” and “AnimatedGIFAssignments1320″
